DynaTension RLM2000
The DynaTension Model RLM2000 monitors both tension and ton cycles subjected to riser cables.
RLM 2000 KEY FEATURES:
Displays static loads - insures that tensioners are operating within their design parameters |
Displays peak loads - DynaTension sees all dynamic loads that other methods are blind to |
Displays ton-cycles - DynaTension sees all cycles – large and small |
Maintains record of events - provides historical evidence in event of cable failure |

DynaTension measures tension directly by sensing the frequency of vibration of a span of the cable and inferring tension from it, by applying the “vibrating string equation”. Measurement accuracy is independent of the load, consequently DynaTension senses low amplitude tension cycles that other sensing techniques are blind to.
The “constant” tension maintained by a motion compensator varies due to piston seal and sheave friction by on the order of + 20% of load. Unless load cycles are greater than + 20%, load measurement by conventional methods are blind to them. Yet, they flex the wire rope and lessen its life. DynaTension sees and measures those cycles and provides an accurate measure of wire rope wear. Knowledge of rope wear helps prevent replacement sooner than necessary and helps prevent rope failure by not replacing it soon enough.
